Parenting Researcher and Coordinator

Description

The Parenting Researcher will work under the Christian Parenting and Caregivers Grant. The person filling this position will have the opportunity to work with families including children and their parents as well as adult daughters. Research and activities under the grant include topics of transmitting faith from parents to children, children’s religious imaginations, and intergenerational relationships of women. The Parenting Researcher will execute activities and research under the direction of faculty in the Building Communities and Nurturing Relationships framework of the Seminary. Successful background check required. This is a term appointment and grant funded position for up to three years.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate in planning and execution of grant projects under faculty direction.
  • Engage community partners in research and recruit participants.
  • Resource and prepare activity packets for families.
  • Conduct interviews and activities with families.
  • Collection and management of transcripts.
  • Assist in coding, analysis and organization.
  • Maintain accurate records with confidentiality.
  • Manage email, equipment and supplies for projects.
  • Assist faculty in content creation and workshop opportunities.
  • Attend project meetings and assist in tracking progress of deliverables.
  • Prepare reports and remain in budget.
  • Travel as needed for project objectives.
  • Perform job duties as assigned under faculty direction.

QUALIFICATIONS & APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Bachelor of Arts or equivalent; Master’s in Human Development, Family Science, Christian Education, or an allied field strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and discretion.
  • Experience planning, scheduling and executing projects.
  • Experience conducting interviews and administering activities with families.
  • Critical thinking skills with flexibility and creativity.
  • Strong computer literacy with ability to learn new software; experience with qualitative software preferred.
  • Demonstrated skill in literature search and review, research methods (especially qualitative research), and manuscript preparation in APA and Chicago styles.
